ICE Partners With TradeXYZ to Bring Hyperliquid Perps Onshore

NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange agreed on October 29 to build a regulated U.S. market for Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures with TradeXYZ, sending the HYPE token up 15%.

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, agreed on October 29 to bring Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures markets onshore in the United States through a partnership with TradeXYZ, pending regulatory approval. The HYPE token surged 15% on the news, trading near $91.21.

  • ICE will operate a new regulated exchange and clearing structure for Hyperliquid-based perpetual futures, pending regulatory approval.
  • TradeXYZ will design the markets while Hyperliquid's HIP-3 technology supplies the underlying infrastructure.
  • HYPE jumped 15% to roughly $91.21 following the announcement, approaching its all-time high of $97.96.

What Does the ICE-TradeXYZ Partnership Involve?

Under the agreement announced by ICE, the exchange operator will serve as the exclusive operator of TradeXYZ's regulated markets and is making a strategic investment in the company. TradeXYZ currently offers users outside the US around-the-clock access to perpetual contracts tied to equities, indices, commodities, and currencies, with Hyperliquid supplying the underlying technology through its HIP-3 framework. ICE plans to build a dedicated market and clearing structure separate from its institutional futures franchise, which remains more than 99% institutional today.

Distribution is expected to run through brokers and platforms retail traders already use, including ICE's existing joint venture with OKX, according to a report from The Block. ICE chair and CEO Jeffrey Sprecher said the company intends to find retail traders where they want to be, and described the new perpetual markets as additive to its existing futures business rather than a replacement.

Why Did the HYPE Token Price Jump?

Hyperliquid's native HYPE token rose 15% on the announcement, a sharp move that reflects investor expectations that US regulatory access could meaningfully expand demand for the network's infrastructure. Hyperliquid's HIP-3 markets have already shown strong growth, with open interest reaching $2.38 billion in April on demand for 24/7 tokenized equity exposure. A regulated US entry point run by one of the world's largest exchange operators would open Hyperliquid-based products to a far larger pool of retail trading activity than offshore venues currently reach.

How Does This Fit Into the Broader Regulatory Picture?

The deal builds on regulatory groundwork laid earlier in 2026. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a staff advisory and no-action relief in May, clearing a path for perpetual futures to operate in the US. In September, President Donald Trump referenced Hyperliquid directly while discussing the CFTC's efforts to bring the protocol into the country in a fully compliant and legal fashion. The ICE-TradeXYZ agreement is the clearest sign yet that a major incumbent exchange operator is willing to build the regulated infrastructure needed to act on that opening, alongside continued growth in decentralized finance trading volumes.

What Happens Next?

ICE and TradeXYZ still need to secure the regulatory approvals required to launch, including the clearances needed to support leveraged trading. Once approved, customers who complete Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering checks are expected to access the new markets through futures commission merchants that join the platform. ICE has said the arrangement will not materially affect its 2026 adjusted financial results, capital return, or deleveraging plans, framing the retail perpetuals business as an incremental opportunity layered on top of its existing institutional franchise.
